The Egyptian state adopted a comprehensive plan to develop and raise the efficiency of the geographical area of the Grand Egyptian Museum before its opening at the end of this year. It relied mainly on creating a modern vision for the general coordination of the region, in a way befitting its tourist status, as it is considered a huge event that will attract the global spotlight, and is a reflection of the cultural shift that has taken place. The plan to improve the visual image of the areas surrounding the Grand Egyptian Museum included developing, paving, and raising the efficiency of the roads and traffic axes leading to it, treating the facades of old residential buildings overlooking the ring road in both Cairo and Giza governorates, and beginning to paint them, as it is one of the main roads to reach the Grand Egyptian Museum, in an integrated manner. The plan included supporting the areas surrounding the museum with plants, green surfaces, necessary irrigation networks, and lighting works, implementing a traffic plan that allows for the smooth flow of traffic passing between the ring road, the shooting range, and the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, providing parking lots to prevent incorrect waiting on the surrounding roads, and improving the aesthetic appearance of the lighting networks and electricity kiosks. And the entrances to the hotels located on both sides of the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road to be in line with the development work. With regard to painting the properties overlooking the ring road in Giza Governorate, Major General Ahmed Rashid, Governor of Giza, confirmed the start of implementing the civilizational vision set to develop the area surrounding the Grand Egyptian Museum, as well as painting the properties overlooking both sides of the roads and the axes leading to the tourist areas, within the framework of the state’s plan to improve visual visibility and highlight the elements. The aesthetic surroundings of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the roads leading to it in preparation for its opening, in implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly. The Governor of Giza pointed out that the ring road is one of the main axes leading to the new museum, and work is being done in coordination with consulting offices to raise the comprehensive efficiency of the properties overlooking it and the roads located below it to provide a distinctive tourist experience for the Egyptian and foreign visitors who frequent it, as well as visitors to the archaeological area of the Giza Pyramids in general. Major General Ahmed Rashid confirmed that the works are proceeding according to the timetables set for them and that the technical and engineering standards necessary for their implementation are being taken into account according to the highest quality standards in cooperation with the implementing companies and consulting offices in charge of the works, pointing out that the work of developing the visual identity of the ring road is being carried out according to a general vision that includes Dividing the road into sectors, and working to unify the paint color of the buildings on both sides of the road in consistent colors. Rashid pointed out that many development projects are being completed around the Grand Egyptian Museum and the leading roads, which include providing parking lots, urban parking, development of slums, and traffic planning, all of which aim to accommodate the expected traffic movement when the museum opens. Major General Ahmed Rashid, Governor of Giza, directed the head of the Talbiya district, in coordination with the owners, to cooperate in removing any elements of visual pollution, such as protruding and joints on the exterior walls of the property, and to remove any waste or trash on the roofs, stressing the periodic follow-up of the work and coordination with the implementing companies to speed up the completion of the sectors being worked on.
